4 Days Until Maskfest...

With a mere 4 days left, I'll be posting some pics of my favorite individual mask sightings from the past two years. First and foremost, the Night Owl Shock Monster. In my humble opinion, the best modern version of the classic Shock Monster. An absolutely spot on replica from Mr. Mabry!

The Universal Monster Army was in attendance at last year's Maskfest with an incredible display of vintage masks and monster memorabilia. Each UMA glass display case was like looking into a window of monster goodness...

17 Days Until Maskfest...

Well, it looks like the Blood Curdling Blog of Monster Masks reached it's first milestone with this being our 100th post! Continuing on with our countdown to Maskfest, here's a quick look at David Lady's table from last year. David had an excellent array of new and old masks for sale, as well as a good number of blanks for the do-it-yourself-ers out there.
The good Doctor's table featured some really nice blanks of classic monsters including: Laura Lady's IT! The Terror mask. Several Carol Hicks blanks were available including: the Closet Monster, and a Jan's Head from "The Brain that Wouldn't Die", a Teenage Vampire, and others.

If you're planning on checking out Maskfest this year, be sure to stop by David Lady's table, the man possesses a wealth of knowledge on the history of monster masks, and he literally wrote the book on the subject..
I was lucky enough to pick up two Don Post Calendar Reissues from David last year. This most excellent Bela Lugosi Dracula, and Mummy...

Today's post features a few pics of Jeff Wehenkel's table at last years Maskfest. Jeff, a long time mask maker and collector had a ghastly selection of wearable half masks and gruesome display busts.

21 Days and Counting...

Daniel Horne's Monster Show was on display at Maskfest 2010. Daniel's amazing work never ceases to amaze me, the Dracula and Mummy seen below are without a doubt my favorite versions of the characters done in latex. All of Daniel's masks feature such amazing likeness and expressions. I really hoping to see some of Daniel's new wearable retro line at this years fest.
Sorry about the blurry photo, but I just love this Alice Cooper mask!

24 Days to Maskfest!

This dude was totally creeping me out last year. For a short while on Saturday, he hung around the aisle near our table, and just kept staring!
Every time I would look up... there he was... staring. Brilliant mask and costume whoever you are. Bravo! I can't help looking at this picture without the "Evil Homer" song popping in my head.
