1986 Weirdom Mask Catalog

I recently found a much lighter copy of this Weirdom catalog insert. The previous two versions of these that I own are much darker (with one being black silhouettes of the masks). These are all early Jordu Schell creations, and they are just gorgeous designs. The Demon and Swamp Monster are among my favorite masks of the late 80's era. Here is a link to a larger write-up and photos of these from a post five years ago.

2008 Schell Sculpture Studio Catalog

This catalog, featuring the stunning work of Jordu Schell, is representative of the work that Jordu displayed at Maskapalooza in New Jersey back in 2008. While the pieces look amazing in the catalog, they were truly show stopping in person...

1989 Great Cover Up Catalog

Day two of the Great Cover Up catalog week features the 1989 catalog. The '89 line-up still consisted mainly of old Savage Eye and MAC (Mario Chiodo) pieces. While Mario parted ways with the GCU by '89,  Mr. Chiodo's work is still prevalent throughout the catalog.  1989 was also the year that GCU owner Bill Atcheson purchased interest in Don Post Studios. DPS did all development for TGC and DPS lines from '90 to '99. There are also early Jordu Schell creations in the line-up, including the "Demon", "Ogre", "Booger Man" and "Corpse" masks found on page 12.

2006 Zagone Studios Catalog

Seven years have already come and gone since Be Something Studios changed it's name to Zagone Studios. I remember being thrilled when the 2006 Zagone line-up and website was released. Not only did it mean the re-release of a handful of classic BSS masks, it also meant some new stuff in the line-up from Jordu Schell. For a mask geek and BSS fanatic it didn't get any better! The "Schell Shock" and "Space Imp" masks that Jordu sculpted for this line-up are among my very favorite Zagone releases, along with the "Dorian" mask which is not pictured in this catalog.

Specter Studios Article

Issue number six of Horrorshow Magazine featured a detailed write-up on Pittsburgh based Specter Studios. Several photos of the studio are included as are a few nice full-page shots of the Jordu Schell sculpture of "Olaf". I have to admit, I know little of Specter Studios other than what is written in the article. But, after visiting their website and checking out the video on the home page, it's great to learn that there is another mask studio other than Zagone Studios in Chicago that is manufacturing masks right here in the U.S.A.

Weirdom Mask Ad

This classified ad for Weirdom masks was dug up from the December 1986 issue of Fango. Weirdom was a small studio run out of Philadelphia by none other than mask maker extraordinaire Jordu Schell...

In case you missed a few years back, here's a link to a look at a larger Weirdom Mask ad
