Don Post Studios 300 Line Catalog Sheet

 This Don Post Studios 1970s catalog sheet featuring the 300 Line mask line is a variation from the one previously posted in the Catalog Archives.

I did not realize that the Herman Munster mask was offered as part of the 300 Line until I had found this. While I had mentioned in a prior post about the Don Post Munsters masks that economy versions of the Munsters had been released, I thought this referred to the 800 Line versions. I had no idea that Herman had made his way into the 300 Line as well.

Marc Samson Designs Postcard

While digging through some old folders yesterday, I found this small paper relic of Maskfest past. It's a postcard that I picked up from the Marc Samson Design booth at Maskfest several years ago. So I threw it on the scanner while taking care of some catalog scans for future posts. 

Marc is definitely one of the good peeps that we are lucky enough to have within our hobby. I grabbed a few pics from his Instagram account of the masks pictured on the card, as well as a few of my personal faves...

 

1990s Hockey Mask Ads

 Does anyone remember this cheap plastic "Hannibal Voorhees" mask? This mask refused to pick a direction, and depending on your view of things, either failed miserably at representing both, or was a brilliant best-selling cheap novelty knock-off. Personally, I had long forgotten about this 1990's relic until I ran into these ads recently. You just have to love the the copy in the ad... "Now with an even more dreaded legend behind it!"

Sally's 1957 Halloween Catalouge

This 1957 Sally's Halloween Catalouge was posted several years ago on the Euclid Boo Blog, and it offers a glimpse of some really old and rare masks within it's pages. There are a number of Halco vacuform masks on the first and second pages, several of which I had not seen before finding this catalog. On page three, a Bayshore Zombie can be found among a group of other early Bayshore offerings...

 Perhaps the most uncommon sighting in the pages of this catalog is this trio of masks. I recalled seeing these masks in the typical Topstone-style ads in very early issues of Famous Monsters magazine. Sure enough, I found them easily by looking through the post on FMOF issue #4. 

Because of the format of the ads, I have always assumed these to be Topstones, but I must confess this is only an assumption and I do not know for sure if they are actually Topstone masks or not. 1954 Halco / Halperen Ad

Throughout the years, there haven't been many Halco posts, as the catalogs and ads can be mighty hard to track down. But here is an ad from the May 1954 issue of Toys and Novelties. There is mention of a 24-page catalog in the ad. If any of you happen to have a copy of the catalog, I'd love to hear from you!

1980 Toys R Us Halloween Ad

This Toy's "R" Us newspaper advertisement from October 23rd 1980 checks a lot of the boxes needed for early 80's Halloween fun. Collegeville and Ben Cooper masks? Check. 150 Line Don Post masks? Check. Remco Monster Figures? Check. Play Blood? Check. 38 cent plastic Hobo Cigar? Check.
