Devil's Workshop 2021 Recap - DW25 Releases

While I am on hold from regular posting until Summer Break, I wanted to share some of the 2021 Yearbook images that I posted on the Devil's Workshop Instagram page...

This will be the last of the Year Book posts that have reflected back on the goings on inside the Devil’s Workshop in 2021...

The DW25 Resurrection sets were my personal favorite projects this past year for a few reasons...

#1 2021 was the 25th anniversary here at the Devil’s Workshop and the DW25 series gave me the opportunity to revisit some of my favorite original designs from the past 25 years.

#2 These were wearable sets and seeing the photos that you maniacs took and shared was the COOLEST!!! I was blown away seeing these masks in the wild!

#3 I love any chance to design packaging for masks. I’ve done some bagged and tagged masks in the past (Gayle House Ghoul, Monster Ghost) as well as the Moon Mobster boxed sets, so it was awesome to once again combine my love for design and masks together.

The response for these was incredible, and I thank you all for the amazing support. In 2022 I will continue to look back at some past original designs for additional bagged releases. I don’t own copies of most my old original designs from 1996-98, and I’ll be making these as much for myself as I will for you.

Devil's Workshop 2021 Recap - Cover Projects

While I am on hold from regular posting until Summer Break, I wanted to share some of the 2021 Yearbook images that I posted on the Devil's Workshop Instagram page...

Up next is a recap of the Cover Projects from 2021. For the past 10 years the Devil’s Workshop has created an annual cover project and 2021 continued the tradition with the release of the Monster World Lagoon Monster. By mid-year I had been approached with a commission to create the Black Cat “Melting Man” series followed up with the Chamber of Chills “Ghost Girl”. After sculpting this gruesome two-some, I couldn’t resist creating the Tomb of Terror “Blasted” series. The year came to a close with a whopping 4 Cover Projects and each was a ton of fun to bring to life in three dimensions.

Thank you all for the amazing support on each of these projects. I have some very cool plans for the 2022 Cover Projects that include another commission project that will begin in January. Stay tuned Creeps...

Sears Halloween Shop Button

That's a wrap on the Masks of the Sears Halloween Shop series. I do have a few Sears Halloween Shop catalogs that were gifted to me at a Maskfest several years ago by another collector who wished to see them appear here. Alas, they are still packed away from my last move and are waiting to be unearthed and scanned.

I am always on the look out for hard copies to scan, and hope to obtain some in the future. It's rare that I'll devote this much space over a week to low quality found images, but I do think it was a fun nostalgic look back at a 1980's Halloween tradition...

1979 SEARS Halloween Shop Catalog (Masks of the)

The final two entries into the Masks of the Sears Halloween Shop Catalogs are limited in nature. The 1979 catalog pictured here is low-resolution and almost impossible to see the selection of illustrated masks in the line-up. The 1987 catalog pictured below is of decent resolution, but is missing one of the two pages of masks. I thought they still had a place here despite the limitations.

1982 SEARS Halloween Shop Catalog (Masks of the)

The mask line-up in the 1982 Sears Halloween Shop catalog mainly consisted of nine classic Be Something Studios characters, six Don Post Studios masks,  with two Cesar masks to round it out. I'm a big fan of the design of this catalog as well as the classic Halloween characters represented in the choice of masks...
