R.I.P. Dick Smith

It's a sad day... but what sweet monsters he made. Rest in Peace Mr. Smith, your monsters and inspiration will live on forever.

  1. Indeed, a sad day. But Mr. Smith has left a rich legacy. His talents evolved with the times and the industry is better for it. I'll never forget messing with his concoctions from his Famous Monsters Makeup Handbook. Smith taught me what makeup was.

  2. Well said John. Growing up, the Famous Monsters Makeup Handbook was pure gold. I didn't have the magazine, but our local library had a softcover copy. I must have checked that book out at least two dozen times until I finally bought one. Mr. Smith was so generous with his knowledge. He will be missed.
