Time off for the Holidays

Hope the holiday season has been kind to all you creeps. I'll be gone from the blog until the New Year. Be sure to have a happy and safe New Year celebration, and check back in January for more monster mask madness with your ol' pal the Yellow Phantom!

Curse of the Demon Mask

Shameless self-promotion alert: The Devil's Workshop snuck in one more release before the end of the year...  the massive Demon mask. This is easily the largest piece to ever come out of the Devil's Workshop, measuring in at 30" tall, and 22" from ear to ear. Available in red or green, the Demon is limited to just 13 "lucky" copies. Click here for details and to reserve your copy today...

1983 Don Post Universal Monsters Masks

This ad appeared in the 1983 Morris catalog and proclaims these as "The Universal Horrors". The 1983 Don Post catalog refers to these masks as "the Classic Collection" and makes no reference to the "Horrors" name, however this is definitely a fun homage from the folks at Morris to the old 1964 Universal Horrors Don Post Ad.

1965 Don Post Studios Monster Merchandise Campaign Materials

These scans of the 1965 Don Post Studios Monster Merchandise Campaign are an amazing early piece of DPS history. They appear to layout the framework of the Monster Daze events, which may very well represent the pinnacle of the 1960's Monster Kid phenomenon. More on Monster Daze here, here, and here. Please forgive the profuse watermarking of these documents, but I would hate to see copies of these ever being offered up for sale as originals. A HUGE thanks goes out to Matt Post for making these scans available...

Monster! - Halloween Issue

The October "Halloween" issue of Monster! magazine  is packed with plenty of monster mask goodness. Starting immediately on page one with a photo of vintage Topstone masks, to a Halloween III SOTW review, and finally, a six-page article entitled "Nightmares in Latex: Remembering Don Post Masks". The magazine is a steal at just over five bucks an issue.
