This was one of the first catalogs released by The Party Professionals "Great Coverup" after the Party Professionals had bought out Don Post Studios in the early 90's. In fact, a small handful of DPS masks can be seen sprinkled throughout the catalog.
In terms of the "big picture" of monster mask history, this is an early glimpse of the eventual closing of Don Post Studios that we saw in 2012, as the Paper Magic would eventually shallow up Part Professional's Great Cover-up in the early 2000s, and eventually Gemmy would come along and shallow up Paper Magic just this last September. History and business aside, there are a handful of fun masks to be had in the '93 line-up...
Wow, so I think that #90353 Monster is one of my Dad's sculpts. I know he worked with The Great Coverup for a few years in the late 80s early 90s, and I remember we had one of those Karloff Frankensteins in our home studio, along with some of the others he had done.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO cool MC! Any idea what else he may have sculpted throughout the years?
